I'm about to format for the first time since I installed windows 7 on it is there a particular driver safe/friendlier method to then formatting and reinstalling windows 7. I would just format and reinstall (From Windows 7 Setup screen) but is that the right way to do it on a SSD Drive vs. a Sata or IDE Drive. Special software Ect.

Best bet is to Secure Erases the drive. This will put it back to factory like condition.

One way to do this is to download and boot from a parted magic iso. Loads of info on the net on how to go about this.

Ahh thank you . Just wanted to make shure I was preforming the least wear and tear on the drive so it lasts longer. But after reading about parted magic ISO, I am glad I asked I shall get it now.

Just be careful. Some utilities will allow you to select different levels of how secure you want the wipe to be. For traditional harddrives, it's possible for data to be recovered after a wipe. I think like a government level secure wipe entails something like writing zeros to a drive 7 or more times! Definitely not necessary for an SSD and could in fact, have negative effects in terms of unnecessary wear.

The internal SE command uses a pump charge to clear the nand. It write NOTHING to the drive to clean it. Will leave the drive in factory like condition.

Really? How would I initiate this command? And when you say "pump", is that the same thing as writing all zeros to the drive? What do you mean by "pump"?
